This GORGEOUS Winchester Engagement Shoot will MELT YOUR HEART!
Last week It was my absolute pleasure to travel up to Winchester to meet and photograph the winners of my recent engagement shoot competition. I met Sophie and Declan in Garnier Road Car Park and we got to know each other as we walked our way up to St Catherine’s Hill.
Getting to meet such wonderful couples is one of the biggest perks of this incredible job I have. Once again I can’t help but feel I must be extraordinarily lucky, because all the couples I get to work with turn out to be some of the loveliest people! Sophie and Declan are no exception. I loved finding out about Sophie and Declan, what they do for a living, how they got engaged in Mexico just months ago and all the work they were putting into planning their dream wedding.
After a short walk to the base of St Catherine’s Hill it was time for me to bust out the camera and get to work!
We begun our shoot at the base of the hill, we weren’t blessed with the blue skies that we had in the days prior to the shoot, but I have to admit I’m a big fan of a moody sky…
After a sort of Photographic ‘Warm Up’ at the base of the Hill we began to make our way up. I definitely didn’t anticipate the level of exertion it would take to climb the hill with all my kit, but it was more than worth it for the view at the top!
Once you reach the top of the Hill there is an adorable little circle of Woodland, perfect for an Engagement Photography Session!
After taking a few pictures, Declan noticed a little DIY swing in the corner of the Woodland. Obviously we had to get some pictures with it!
After taking some photo’s with the Swing I asked Sophie and Declan to do perhaps one of the most awkward things I have ever asked of a couple on an engagement shoot. I asked them to practice their first dance, with no music, whilst a relative stranger takes their picture. And they absolutely smashed it!
After asking these two to be so active in this shoot, climbing a hill, using the swing, dancing. I decided to finish off out shoot in a much more relaxed way. I asked these two to just enjoy the view whilst I take work away…
We had now been taking pictures for well over an hour and I couldn’t help but realise that the air was beginning to get a bit colder, so I asked Sophie and Declan to wrap up warm in a throw, get cosy and look out over Winchester.
